My Favorite Thing About Summer

My favorite thing about summer has to be the garden and all the fresh veggies. The pool ranks in at a close second, but I love everything about mowing grass, planting tomatoes and eating fresh purple hull peas. It is a lot of work, but so worth it when you have things from your garden frozen and canned for the winter.

Tonight we had a meal of things entirely grown in my Dad's garden. We also had round steak that was raised at my in-law's farm. My Dad puts in a lot of work to plant the garden every year. I try to help as much as I can, but without him none of that would be possible.

I can't wait to do some canning and learn more about how to do that from my parents and grandmother. That is such an art that people don't even know exists anymore because it is lost on the older generation. I think it's so neat to be able to plant and store your own food. It's definitely something I want to pass down to my children.

Sweet Summertime

I can't decide if I like Fall or Summer better. I like each of them during the beginning and middle, and then towards the end I start wishing for the other. It's been nice being home with Jackson most of the summer. It's so fun to get out in the pool and let him splash around.

Jackson got a new sand and water table for his birthday and he loves it. He likes to flick the spinner wheel on it and watch it fall.

We bought an EasySet 8ft. pool early on in the summer. To be honest, Jordan thought I went way overboard. I went for a small kids swimming pool and came home with that. After we got it all set up and it hit 95 degrees outside, he agreed with me. He also likes to take Jackson out in it and let him play.

I am getting to the point where I look forward to fall now. It is my favorite season to decorate for, and I am tired of watering my flowers and garden every night just to watch them wilt the next day.
