Weekend and a church home!

It's been a great weekend so far. Saturday morning we got up, had a big breakfast and then headed out to find a few yard sales. We didn't see much we couldn't live without, but I did buy three stadium seat cushions. Very rarely do we use those, but they were only $1 each so it was hard to pass up. Also, when we go canoeing  or the off chance we actually get to GO to a RAZORBACK game, they really come in handy.

After than I went to my parents to help my Dad in the garden. It takes a lot of work to keep a garden that size manageable, and I love to go out there and get dirty every now and then too!

Last night we decided to head out to the pool at Jordan's grandparents. His cousin Colby and his wife just had a new baby. I haven't been able to see her very much so I was excited to get to hold a baby again! We found out something about Jackson though, he loves babies and is so gentle with them, but he HATES it when I am the one holding the baby. When she was with someone else he would stand buy her, stroke her hand and say "OHHH BABYYY", but when I took her he had a complete and total meltdown!

This morning we got up and went to Sunday School and church. I am so excited about our new church. It's actually not new to me since I grew up there, but it's new to Jordan. We have started going back to First Baptist Church-Searcy. It's so nice to be able to go and see all the older people I grew up seeing as a child. I also spent lots of time there in the youth group and had a blast. We have found a Sunday School class that we really like and I'm hoping to start working with Awanas or maybe the youth sometime. Jordan has always been used to going to a more contemporary service with instruments and things like that. I think this is the direction that the church is going in and I'm so excited! I think this is a big reason why people my age don't attend church anymore.

I am really hoping to get involved with the music more and see where God leads the church. It's hard to completely switch from traditional to contemporary overnight. You still have to make all generations in the church happy, but I think that the worship leader, pastor and congregation are all excited to be moving in that direction. I can't wait to get plugged back in and see how God can use me! I am also hoping to encourage more people my age to go on Sunday and Wednesday nights. I was a little disappointed at the lack of people our age who were there on Wednesday, but I know that as school starts and the programs kick off again, there will be more people there.

Tonight we grilled steaks and hung out with Kara, Jacob and Mason. The boys love being together and playing outside. The steaks were also so good and I was able to get the back porch and yard cleaned up too.

I hope everybody had a great weekend. Good luck to all those starting school and to all those parents sending little ones off for the first time! My day is coming in a few weeks when Jackson starts Mother's Day Out and Carpenter's Kids.

Weekend Buzz

This is one of a few weekends we've had lately where we didn't have any plans. That tends to drive my husband crazy because he gets bored easily, but we always seem to find a way to fill the weekend up.

Friday was a day off for me. Jackson and I spent the day at home and ran a few errands. He finally got to wear his new shirt from Aunt Kara. Jordan went to the golf course late Friday evening while I mowed the yard. I can't stand to go into the weekend with the yard looking shabby.

Saturday morning we spent at the golf course with Jordan's parents and our nephew Mason. Jackson isn't so into golf yet, but Mason sure is!

After golf we went to McDonald's for a Happy Meal and a little playtime. I much prefer Chick-Fil-A, but Jackson seems to eat better at McDonald's. Jackson and I spent the afternoon and evening at my parent's, who had just gotten home from a trip.

Sunday we decided to try out a new church. It's actually not new to me since I grew up there, but as a family we have never been to First Baptist-Searcy. I love the feel of the church it is so comfortable and familiar to me. They had a special speaker, so we will go back next week to hear the pastor. I'm hoping to get plugged into a Sunday School class soon. Jackson also had a first at church this morning, he went into the nursery and stayed the whole time without crying. I have to admit I really needed that. For two years he has cried every time we left him, so this is a big breakthrough! I'm making BBQ pork chops, mashed potatoes and peas for lunch, and we plan on doing a little swimming later.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
Tomorrow is Jackson's 2nd birthday so stay tune for a birthday post.

Lately

I've been really busy lately with school, work and helping my parents. I haven't blogged much, but here's a little bit about what we've been up to.

Here is somewhat of a before. The right shutters are painted but the left ones and door haven't been yet.

Here is the finished product

I was able to get all my plants from the green house at my parents and plant some of the shrubs my mother in law gave me. I lost most all of mine last year when it was so hot and dry.

Other than painting and planting, I spent the whole weekend with Jordan and Jackson playing outside and enjoying the warm weather. Jackson's bath water was so dirty every night from playing outside all day.

We have another busy week this week with work and school. Hopefully I'll get a chance to blog more soon!

Have a great week!

Weekend Update

We bought our house a little over 2 years ago. A year after that we put down hard wood floors and tile in both the kitchen and bathroom.

Here is a before of the living room:

And an after:

We took down a wall and also got rid of the ugly green paint:

But as of the 2nd year of living in this house, we still hadn't finished it.

So today, we finally finished all the remodeling of our house! It's such a good feeling knowing this isn't hanging over our heads anymore. A big thanks to Jordan's parents, grandparents and my parents for helping us out in a big way!

We have also done several other updates and improvements to the house and my living room looks a lot different because of a new rug and curtains. I am so glad to have finally finished and greatful to all the people who helped us out!

Yard Sale and a Little Gardening

This weekend my friend Nicki and I decided to have a yard sale. I've been saving all this stuff in our attic and shed for the last few months and couldn't wait to get it out. I'm so thankful to Nicki because she did it at her house and ran it on Friday when I had to work. She really did most of the work! We had fun on Saturday despite the lack of customers and warm weather. I ended up selling all but 5 items, and those were small things. It feels so good to get rid of junk just in time for Spring!

The gardening part started yesterday around lunch. My parents live on 10 acres, and every year since I can remember my Dad has had a huge garden. A few years ago he built 20+ raised beds to make things a little easier. I haven't been as much help as I would have liked in the past few years because of having Jackson, but this year I plan to help a lot. I took Jackson out to their house yesterday and we started working the the garden. Jackson helped a lot and then played in the dirt like every boy should!
The first thing we did was cut up potatoes and get the spot ready to plant.
Jackson took them out to my Dad to plant

By the end of the day we had carrots, broccoli, cabbage, radishes, potatoes and peas planted. I can't wait to have all this good food ready to eat

Weekend Update

Nothing exciting happened this weekend, but we did get some rearranging and cleaning done. We have a 3 bedroom house, that used to have a bedroom for us, a bedroom for Jackson and an office for Jordan. He is really into maps and globes. He had a perfect "man cave" set up in there, but since Jackson is older and his toys are bigger, that has slowly evolved into a playroom. Today, the last of Jordan's belongings (other than the x-box) was moved out to make room for a new bed and more of Jackson's toys.

Jackson isn't ready for a big boy bed yet, but I have been looking for a full size bed for a long time, for guests and for Jackson to play on. I found a great deal on one and couldn't pass it up. I finally have our small secretary's desk near the living room/kitchen area so all the bill paying is a bit closer.

(Sorry for the poor picture quality, these pics were taken with my phone)

I will post some pics later of Jackson's new playroom when we get the bed in.

Jackson has a new thing at church, where he wants to dance with the praise and worship team. It's a little distracting, so we try not to let him do it for long, but here is a picture. He's so cute
