A Day in the Life

The whole premise of this post cracks me up. I love reading blogs about what other Mom's do in a day, but I think it's absurd that anyone would want to read about mine. HA!
Anyway, for link up's sake I thought I'd post a typical Monday around our house. (Tuesdays are my teaching days and every other day Jack is at school).

Monday's are some of my equally favorite and not so favorite days.
On one hand we get to stay home all day in our comfy clothes and relax, on the other hand it is Monday and its a lot of work entertaining a 3 year old and a 7 month old all day.

6am-Jordan gets up to get ready for work. No matter how quiet he is, somehow Jack always hears him and wakes up too. I can usually turn on an episode of Mickey Mouse, or he will lay in the bed with me until 7 or so.

I try to get up around 7 or 7:30 (and before you call me lazy, remember I have a 7 month old)
By this time I try to get laundry started and have an idea in my head of what room(s) need to be cleaned that day.

8am- Ava usually wakes up about this time. I feed her, change her and pray that she stays occupied by a toy for longer than 10 minutes. This is usually one of her happiest points of the day.

9am- I make us breakfast. He loves eggs, and I usually have a bowl of cereal or yogurt and fruit. After breakfast we play toys, games and anything else I can think of to keep them occupied.

10am-Ava goes down for her first nap. Sometimes she sleeps an hour and a half and other times she sleeps 30 minutes. I also start to get things ready for lunch because Jordan come home at 11.

11am-12pm we eat lunch with Jordan and visit

After lunch I try to get both kids down for a nap at the same time. If I'm successful at this I will usually fold laundry or work on one of my many jobs.

Everyone is usually awake by 3pm. At this point I'll usually let Jackson watch a movie while I start to get things prepared for dinner. I've learned that with an infant, you better start prepping early because there's no telling how long it will take to cook.

I never understood why the hours of 3:30-5:30 were called the witching hours until now. By this time Jack is getting a little restless and he's not so interested in his movie. Ava is bored with every toy in the house and just wants me to hold her. Jordan is still 2 hours away from being home, and I really need to fix dinner. This could also be called the whining hours.

This particular day I think I made these. So Yummy and so easy!

Jordan gets home around 5:30 and we eat dinner. If, for some reason Ava has been asleep, she automatically wakes up as soon as our plates hit the table to eat. It's magic I tell you.

Once we get dinner cleaned up Jordan and Jackson wrestle or play with trains. This is seriously one of Jackson's favorite times of the day.

Around 6:45 we start baths and getting ready for bed. Hopefully we can have everybody in bed by 8pm.

After this Jordan and I catch up on our shows, play around on the computer and then go to bed.

This is a typical day at home for us. I'm hoping that next Fall we can get more on a schedule and I can start some preschool activities with Jackson. I think Ava will be on a better nap schedule by then and maybe I can get some alone time with Jackson.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day. Don't forget to "like" me on Facebook and type in your email address to have me delivered to your inbox!

Blessings,

  2. This sounds soooo much like my days in Fall 2011 -- Sam at 2 1/2 and Rachel at 4-5 months. It DOES get better and most of my days now are so much easier. Hang in there! (And if you want to read my "Day in the Life" posts I did in Fall 2011 they are on my blog under November 2011 archives. But it would be pretty much like reading about your life right now :) Ha ha ha!)

And I too love reading Day In the Life posts of other women. I don't know why.
