Choo Choos

Jackson has been so into choo choo's (trains) and apanes (airplanes) lately. He is constantly on the lookout for either on when we're in the car. In our area we have an old train station that some people have remodeled and turned into a museum of sorts. It's right on the tracks in Bald Knob, and the tracks are still heavily used in that area. Everything from cargo to Amtrak trains go through there.

Jordan had his first Friday off last week, so we decided to take Jackson and his cousin Mason to check it out. First we stopped at Chick-Fil-A to let the boys play.

This is what greets you when you walk in the door

They have a huge train set. It probably spans a good 30 feet inside that building. It's not like a regular, small train set. This is with huge trains, buildings and little people. Jackson was immediately hooked and started yelling CHOO CHOOS as soon as we walked in the door. They also had a little Thomas table and train set for the kids to play on.

In another room was a museum filled with different artifacts and real train seats from the 60's and back. The people who own this just loves trains and wanted to share that love with the community. A woman showed me the computer that had all the lines and train schedules. We were able go outside and see three different trains go by,

This train was transporting vehicles to St. Louis. I had no idea so many things were still transported this way

Jackson had a blast and his now more infatuated with trains than ever. I love having things like this close by. We will definitely be visiting more this winter.

  1. Awesome!
My little man loved trains, too! I actually just tool down a few really cool train things from his room. Thinking about putting them on eBay or craigslist. They r kind of "big boy" room things, but really fun. I also bought a railroad crossing metal sign tears ago for him. He still has that piece up. Got it on eBay. There r so many vintage train things to decorate with!
