Today Jackson did something that I never thought he wouldn't do for a very long time. We were at Chick Fil A, he came out of the play place and told me he needed to go pee-pee. I assumed that he already went since that's what he's done every other time. But this time he led me back to the bathroom, I pulled down his pants and he went pee-pee in the potty. He was so proud of himself. I was so proud of him too!
It's funny because not 30 minutes before I had been talking to the speech therapist about how I didn't think he would ever potty train. He's not quite 2.5 years old yet, but since he wasn't really showing that much interest in it, I wasn't expecting much to happen very soon.
I reality I knew he would do it eventually, and I really wasn't wanting to push it and make it harder than it needed to be. It's really hard though when people are constantly asking you if your kid is potty trained yet.
This may have been something that he did once and he might not do it again for a long time, but I'm still so happy that he took that first step. At least now we have something to build upon in the future.
So exciting! How has he been since?
ReplyDeleteWell, as I suspected he hasn't done it since. We've been asking him a lot, but he hasn't been interested. I'm not going to push it, I just hope he'll try again on his own soon :-)
