Pre-K Home School has started

Monday was our official start to Pre-K home school! I've spent the last few weeks getting everything together and making a plan of how I wanted things to go. I was pretty happy with the way things went. We are starting out with the letter A and going to take on a new letter each week. He hasn't really been interested in learning the alphabet too much until he started Mother's Day Out this year.

We colored a picture of Abraham the Alligator and then read a story about him.

He practiced drawing A's on the board and I think he got really good at it.

We also did a page from a workbook where he traced the letter A and then had to circle objects that had an A in them. He did really well with that. Next, we starting talking about how Ava's name starts with an A and how everyone in our family has an A in their name. He thought that was pretty neat.

We finished up by reading a book about dolphins and then working on our Cubbies book for Awana. Since he does this on Wednesdays at church, and they have a great story book with memory verse included, I thought we would just use this for our Bible time.

I'm pretty happy with the way things went, and Jackson seemed to really like it and got very excited about this success. I'm going to be supplementing our curriculum with counting and a few other things. I have a lot of great resources that I got from my sister awhile back, and I can't wait to use them. Since he goes to school two days a week right now, we are just doing home school the other three days a week. I can't wait to get started on Wednesday!

  2. There is a part of me which wants to homeschool and a bigger part of me which knows it just isn't for us right now. You make it sound like a lot of fun though!

    1. Thanks! It's definitely not something for everyone. We are trying it out this year to see if it might work for us in the long term. That still remains to be seen. We are having fun so far though!
